Parents frequently have expectations for their child&#8217;s intellectual efficiency; they may want them to keep great grades, excel in their chosen fields, or go on to pursue higher education. They may encourage them to choose a well-paying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iknowpolitics.org\/en\/learn\/knowledge-resources\/trust-crisis-facing-women-leaders\">https:\/\/www.iknowpolitics.org\/en\/learn\/knowledge-resources\/trust-crisis-facing-women-leaders<\/a> or &#8220;prestigious&#8221; profession or deter them from careers that do n&#8217;t align with their passions. They also have expectations for their child&#8217;s career path.<\/p>\n<p>Realize that your kids want you to become happy and successful and that they love you. They might have some thoughts for what that looks like for you, but they are unsure of what that will look like. That does n&#8217;t mean they treat you badly or unfairly. Instead, they are working to support you and enable you to fulfill your potential.<\/p>\n<p>It can be challenging to understand parental expectations, especially when they do n&#8217;t align with what you value or what you want for yourself. Finding your own tribe of people who will help you no matter what, can be helpful in setting restrictions and creating boundaries.
